Gran Fondo: the start shall be controlled

You will climb a lot during the Gran Fondo La Marmotte – Sestriere, but the start will be in descent. At 8:30 it will be given the official start from the center of Sestriere and there shall be controlled pace for the first 11 kilometers, to ensure maximum security of all participants.

“After consulting with my friend and colleague Alberto Decet we agreed that the start and the first part of the race downhill to the village of Cesana Torinese will be controlled to a pace suited, taking account of the 2035 meters of altitude and of the temperature in the morning – explains Andrea Parteli, race director -. We will be assisted by the police and the technical service to ensure that there are no problems in the first few kilometers, after which you will be given the official start of the race.

The grids will be open at 7.30, one hour before the start. To pick up your race number, the chips and start bags, rather, simply go to the sports hall in Via Azzurri d’Italy in Sestriere, from 10:00 to 19:00 on Saturday 23 July. The Palace is located 300 meters from the point of departure and arrival, and will be the place of the final meeting for the colorful pasta party and the awards ceremony, as well as providing the service locker rooms and showers for all athletes.
